Initial Shoot

For my initial shoot which I shot in response to my first thoughts of the inside//outside text I chose to base around anonymity of the subject and the on engagement between subject and camera. From the point of view that I was simply observing from where I was and having no impact in the scene or in what was happening.

I chose to photograph my flat mate (flatmates is a working title for the series) cooking his dinner. An everyday occurrence that I happen to be there for. He knew I was photographing him however had clear instructions to carry on as though I wasn't there and not to acknowledge me; if he did then the shot would be immediately dismissed. Any interaction between subject and camera, to me, makes these images to be an insider approach whereas I wish to be an outsider.

I plan to look at voyeuristic images incorporating windows and taking images through windows/glass, so here I experimented with taking images through a glass panel in the door. I particularly like the reflections it puts into the image.
