Different Times of the Day?
12:57
After my 1 to 1 with Ross I wanted to take images at any time of day, as most of my images were taking early evening when the sun was disappearing I wanted to see the effect in which taking images in the middle of the day would bring to my photographs.
I tried to keep my images similar to ones I had taken previously in that I didn't want my models to acknowledge my presence. I took some images through the glass door to try and bring some reflections into the photograph, however at this time of day this proved quite hard.
I also took photographs from inside the kitchen, trying out different perspectives, as one of the images I liked from my initial photographs was taken without a boundary between me and the subject, just gauging a certain amount of anonymity from the composition of things around him.

I really like the selective focus in this image, and the contrast between the yellow mug on the table to the blue wall. My models knew I was taking the images and were told to act as though I wasn't there. None of the props were staged, the room was untouched, as to keep it as authentic as possible.

This image I tried to bring more of an outsiders position into the image as I have done previously by using reflections; I feel this image isn't contrasted enough, however when I tried to increase contrast post production it gave the image a fake look to it which I didn't like.
This shoot taught me that lighting is very important and that what I hadn't realised, was that lighting is key to me achieving the feel that I want to bring into my photographs. I want images which are not as flatly lit and that have different lighting to daylight, such as when I've taken images at dusk and used lights in the room to light my models subtlety. I think that is the direction I will take from now on, however I am glad I had this shoot for me to experiment and realise the direction in which I really want to take, lighting wise anyway.
